If you build a square upon my nose,

Also build a square where my nose flows,

And build a square upon my back,

You'll find the only thing that you lack...

In comparing the square on my nose

To the one where my nostril flows plus

The one built upon my back-is

The sign, a dash upon a stack (=)

That is to recite, that he who knows

How to make a square upon my nose

Will find it equal to the plum

Of  rear and bottom squares, the sum!

That is, I mean to say that triangles right

Have a hypotenuse, base and height

That are akin; related this way:

Square root of B2 plus H2 equals A!

And furthermore, every number represents

A real length of line, which

When called hypotenuse is like this nose - mine!

And, having a natural number for a nose

Is really quite a wonderful pose!

But, considering the square root of a nose

Depends on which nose you chose,

Because if you've got a nose that's perfect

A pair of integers will result.

But if your nose is t'other kind,

     Rota's dilemma will be your salt;

Speaking numbers to and fro

    Never repeating and never ending

To infinity, high or low -

    Never repeating and never ending
